Well, it went down just as we expected. Brandon Wade, founder of What’sYourPrice.com has made a statement:

Paypal has made a moral decision that accepting money for going on a first date should be banned, while it has for years provided payment for dating websites, such as Ashley Madison, that promote infidelity.  Obviously, PayPal has a double ethical standard where it’s not okay to pay for a date, unless you want to cheat on your spouse.

Now, obviously this guy has his wires crossed a bit – every new site and blog that reported on WhatsYourPrice made the very direct observation that the site was at best an escort service, and a worst, a website for prostitution. I would say that it was less of a “moral” decision by PayPal and more of a legal one, as had a massive prostitution ring sprung up (and it most likely would have), they could have been held partially responsible.

Oddly enough, David Evans claims that according to an NPR post, over 60% of the public said bidding on a first date was a perfectly acceptable  business idea.

Oh well. It was a short ride for What’sYourPrice, and we look forward to (sort of) what Brandon Wade comes up with next.
