Getting Over A Break Up
The movie The Break Up was hilarious. And it wasn’t just Vince Vaughn’s comedic timing, watching the couple break up and try to move on was so funny because we have all been through it. The stages of a break up range from being miserable, to five seconds of enjoyed freedom, to being incredibly angry, and back to miserable. However, there are a few things you can do to ease the awfulness of trying to move on.
1. Do. Not. Call.
You may be tempted on a really bad day to call your ex up and either cry or yell about how big a mistake your break-up was. Trust us when we say this will not make you feel better. In fact you’ll feel worse, and your ex will think you are completely nuts. Perhaps someday you guys will want to become friends again, but not if the last memory they have of you is 28 minutes of sobbing confessions of love. Not cute.
2. Get back to the dating world!
By the time your relationship ended, it probably consisted of sitting on the couch, sharing an oven pizza, and putting off sex cause you haven’t shaved in two weeks. However, it’s time now to get back on that dating horse. Perhaps take the edge off by hitting up a site like OnlineBootyCall or AdultFriendFinder. The important thing is that you not search immediately for another long term relationship. You need to remember that you can be single and still enjoy life! Which brings us to tip #3.
3. Keep busy!
How many times have you thought about picking up hobby, but just ended up shrugging it off to hang out with your boy/girlfriend? Perhaps you’ll get back to the gym, or start a new book. Whatever you do, do NOT just sit around mourning for your relationship. You’ll never get over your ex if you stare at their photo for 12 hours a day, everyday.
Look: we all know breaking up is the worst. But it will probably happen 4 to 5 times at the least in the span of your lifetime, so you might as well get the hang of it!
