Great (But Inexpensive) Valentine’s Day Dates

Depending on the person you’re dating, a crummy Valentine’s Day date can really screw up a relationship. Lots of women (and perhaps men too) want their partner to really deliver on this day for lovers. But if you take a look around, you’ll notice we’re knee deep in a recession. Shelling out hundreds of dollars on a fancy, 5-star dinner isn’t really in most peoples’ budgets. Here are a few of DatePro’s ideas on how to have a great Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.

1. The Picnic

Tried and true, a picnic at a park with some wine and tapas is a great way to spend a romantic afternoon with your special someone. Make sure to pick a park that allows drinking though, because ending your date with a hefty citation won’t put you in the best of moods. And if you’re unfortunate enough to live in one of the states covered in 45 inches of snow, bring the picnic inside, next to a fireplace.

2. The 5 star restaurant inside your house

Many of the world’s top chefs have put their most famous dishes’ recipes online. Find one that suits both of your tastes and spend the night cooking together and talking. No TV allowed. Your dish might not taste exactly like Wolfgang Puck’s but it will be a tasty alternative to take out pizza.

3. The active date

Nothing works up a sexual appetite like physical activity. Taking a hike, going to rock climbing gym, or going ice skating can get your blood pumping, and prime you for the night’s other physical activities.

4. Reschedule

Now, I know that sounds lazy and perhaps some would think it was the worst idea in the world, but pushing Valentine’s Day forward or backward a day is, if my research is correct, not fatal. Picking a different day for your personal Valentine’s can be romantic and unique, not to mention cheaper.

5. Have Valentine’s Day Brunch

I know that people are partial to dinner, what with its steaks and red wines and other aphrodisiacs, but a fancy breakfast with bottomless mimosas will satisfy you early, leaving the rest of the day for the most important part of the holiday- the mindblowing sex. That is what it’s about, right?
