Match.com Checking Users on Sex Offender Registry

via babble
After news stations around the world reported that a woman then known only as Jane Doe (and now as Carole Markin) was threatening Match.com with legal action following her sexual assault by a man she had met on their site, Match has officially announced they will begin running all users through a sex offender registry.
This is big news for the dating industry, not only because it could mean a huge jump in safety for online daters, but also because if Match.com is the only site that offers the registry run, it could severely affect the other large dating sites in the world, like eHarmony, PlentyofFish, and OKCupid. Although there are other “verification” systems out there, like Tru.ly and Rely ID, if Match.com can tout that it is the only site running REAL sex offender checks on its users, it may be perceived as the most legit dating site out there.
Another problem lies in the fact that running sex offenders through a registry will be pricey, meaning that prices for online dating could go up, and free dating sites could be wiped out all together.
What do you think? Would you pay extra to know that all users on a site were run through a sex offender registry?
