pretty girl taking a picture of herself

Alright…so obviously, everyone wants to look the best that they possibly can in pictures…especially when that picture is your first impression to any and all potential online daters. This is why it is so incredibly important to put time, effort, and honesty into your pictures.  You want to make sure that your picture stands out from others, in a positive way of course ;) , and that it truly represents who you are and what you look like.

First things first…make sure your picture is recent!  There is nothing more frustrating than meeting someone in person from an online dating site just to find out that their picture was taken about 5 years ago…when they just so happened to be 15 pounds lighter and actually had some hair left ;) .  But seriously…it is important to be upfront and honest when posting your pictures online.  Isn’t the goal of online dating to eventually meet the people offline?  Yes, and therefore why would you use a photo that doesn’t look a thing like you?  At some point, if someone is interested in you and finds you attractive from your pictures, they will want to meet you in the flesh.  Don’t disappoint!  It’s totally cool if you have added a few extra pounds to your figure since your early twenties, or if your hair isn’t quite as dark brown as it used to be…if someone really likes you, they won’t care!

One other pointer to use in selecting the best possible pictures for online dating purposes is to cover all your bases.  What I mean is, make sure you give the people looking at your pictures a feel for the real you.  Make sure to have a head shot so they can see your face up-close and personal.  Also, make sure to include a full body shot so they can get a realistic idea of your body type instead of just having to rely on the description in your profile that says, “slim” or “curvy.”  The more variety the better, because it gives people a chance to get a well rounded idea of what you truly look like..no surprises!

So remember, just keep it real and use quality and variety when selected your photos and I’m sure you will like the results!
