Santa Monica Legalizes Online Dating… Wait… WHAT?

According to The Santa Monica Mirror, the eHarmony company is making its way to Santa Monica after a 50 year ban that grouped online dating services in the same category as escort services. Crazy, right? The company will move into a 65,000 square foot office by the end of the year, which will be roomier and will be closer to other tech companies, now that a 1954 law which outlawed “personal introductory service, marriage bureau, lonely hearts club, or other business of a like nature” from operating in the city.
OpposingViews.com says the court overruled the statute recently now that online dating is no longer considered “sleazy.”
Wait wait, sleazy? Since when has online dating ever been considered “sleazy”? Did I miss that memo?
