Video Chat and Online Dating?
Remember ChatRoulette? That thing was a whirlwind, wasn’t it? One day everyone in the world was talking about it and then the next day it was like POOF no one cares. I suppose that’s how most things are these days, big one day and then gone the next. However, could the idea of video chatting become a staple in online dating?
According to David Evans at Online Dating Insider, it well could be. He believes that programs like Supyo, which is currently in development by the guys behind Napster, might be a great thing to introduce to dating sites. As he says,
People will argue against video introductions all day long but they are not seeing the big picture. The rest of us would like to save ourselves from bad first dates, pricey dinners and the “I’m 1/2-way into my first drink and this is not working” feeling singles are all-too familiar with.
He’s got a point there – it could be a great halfway point for online daters who want to see if they have face to face chemistry with a potential date. On the other hand, though, you might get a lot of this:
